PVC-UH Water Supply Pipe Trench Excavation Standards: Ensuring Quality Backfill
1. Trench excavation should comply with established standards to ensure safety and efficiency.
To prevent pipeline installation in permafrost layers, determine trench excavation depth based on local data analysis. This ensures proper backfill operations and prevents pipeline and interface damage from bending stress. The guidelines include:
(1) Maintain trench alignment: The trench must be straight, with a bottom width no less than the pipe's outer diameter plus 0.5m, and a total width of at least 0.7m.
(2) Precisely control trench groove depth to avoid being too deep or too shallow. If gravel exceeds depth, backfill and compact to the required level. When encountering hard soil or obstacles like stones, avoid curving the trench excessively. Small radii or insufficient trench depth may lead to pipe bending, subjecting pipes and joints to bending stress. Increased water supply pressure can lead to joint leakage or rupture.
2. Avoid permafrost foundations and prevent trench settlement. During winter construction, ensure the pipe trench lies on intact, undisturbed soil or compacted ground post-grooving. High soil moisture and non-dense foundations can lead to melting permafrost and trench sinking, causing pipe bending and joint breakage. Light displacement may cause leaks; severe displacement may rupture the pipe.
3. Winter pipeline bonding must adhere to specified regulations.
PVC-UH tube adhesive, primarily composed of PVC-UH solvent, operates by applying adhesive to the inner and outer socket surfaces. This causes expansion or dissolution, and during insertion, extrusion pressure fuses the surfaces. The adhesive's solvent evaporates, hardening the surface without compromising substrate strength, ensuring bonding strength meets pressure requirements.
Adhesive quantity must be balanced. Insufficient adhesive fails to ensure sealing or strength, while excessive adhesive can corrode or soften pipe walls after socket insertion, risking cracks under pressure. Low temperatures slow adhesive evaporation, deepening penetration and reducing strength, heightening accident risks.
Follow specification requirements meticulously for bonding pipe construction. Optimal bonding agent levels allow slight overflow upon socket insertion, which should be cleaned with a cloth. Glue application should proceed from the socket's interior outwards to prevent internal pipe or fitting contamination.
4. Consideration for Pipe Thermal Expansion and Contraction
The PVC-UH water supply pipe's thermal expansion coefficient is 0.07mm (m · ºC), notably higher than traditional pipes. Monitor longitudinal deformation due to temperature variations, especially in water delivery systems utilizing surface water sources.
The inherent scalability of the rubber ring connecting pipe interface means this issue is negligible. However, for bonded pipes, especially those that are open, the interface post-bonding is rigid, lacking the ability to expand or contract. Without the provision of an expansion joint, the significant stress caused by thermal expansion or contraction will exert force on both the pipe and the fittings, potentially leading to damage or failure.

Additionally, our system can seamlessly integrate with other pipe types, such as cast iron pipes, using flanges or other compatible adapters, ensuring a cohesive and adaptable piping network.
Detailed Connection Procedure: Start by cleaning the working face thoroughly, followed by applying a suitable lubricant. Finally, proceed with counterpart insertion to ensure a secure and effective connection.
1. Initial inspection is crucial. Verify the quality of pipes, fittings, and rubber rings meticulously. Ensure the working surfaces of the socket and spigot are spotless and ready for assembly.
2. During installation, orient the socket to face the direction from which water will flow, optimizing efficiency and function.
3. Generously apply lubricant to the rubber ring and the insertion part. The lubrication must be just sufficient to prevent overflow into the socket groove. This minimizes friction between the rubber ring and the groove wall of the socket, preventing the rubber ring from overturning. Common lubricants include detergent and soapy water for effective application.
4. Ensure that the socket ports are perfectly aligned, maintaining a straight pipeline axis for optimal flow and structural integrity.
5. Securely position appropriate wire rope sleeves on both sides of the socket. Utilize a tightener or hand wrench to pull them snugly into the reticle. For medium-caliber pipes, pad the port with square wood and gently drive it into the socket using a mallet for a precise and secure fit.
